Weekender totes have gained more and more attention over the past couple of years thanks to social media, and for a good reason! These bags are a great addition to your collection; they’re practical, multifunctional, and stylish.
One big downfall with fashion products is that they can become outdated quickly. However, there is one item that has managed to hold on, tote bags. Tote bags have been around for quite some time but recently they’ve become pretty popular.
Tote bags are hands-down one of the best accessories out there because of their versatility; there are so many ways to use a tote bag! You simply can’t imagine how totes can be used - they fit almost every purpose under the sun.
On top of all of this, you’re no longer stuck choosing between plain brown or black weekend tote bags. Instead, designers (us included!) have branched out and started creating weekender totes in bold patterns, colors, and unexpected materials.
Weekender tote bags are essentially luggage designed for short trips. These bags are usually somewhere between a backpack and a carry-on suitcase; a weekend bag is big enough to hold toiletries, shoes, clothes, and other essentials. Many of these bags have zippers, multiple compartments, and soft sides. All of these features allow for convenience and easy accessibility.

How to Wear a Weekender Tote
Knowing how to wear a weekender tote is pretty simple. There are a couple of ways to hold a weekend tote; we want to go over the two was because how you wear it can complement your outfit and help flatter your body shape.
The most popular way a weekender tote is worn is by carrying it over your shoulder. Be sure that when you’re not carrying the weekender tote, you place it on its bottom, so it’s standing upright. This will keep the bag new; you don’t want it lying on its side as this will deform the bag over time.
Here are two different ways to wear your weekend bag:
- If you have a more formal outfit going, you can choose to wear the weekender bag by holding it in your hand via the handles or over the shoulder. Holding it via the handles looks best with a more formal outfit because when you wear it over the shoulder, it can wrinkle your outfit.
- If you have a more casual outfit going, then feel free to wear the weekender tote over the shoulder. This can complement your body shape and flatter your outfit.
Jeans, a Blazer, and Black Booties
For style and function, pair jeans, a blazer, and black booties with a baby pink weekender tote. The colors complement each other well. Although it’s a super classic look, you could add other traditional accessories to this look to tie everything together, like a square reversible belt and a passport wallet.
A Bold Patterned Dress
We love this bold combo of a patterned maxi dress and mustard yellow and beige tote. It instantly makes you look polished and intelligent. Of course, we’d usually recommend going for a more neutral option with this bold outfit, but it looks great in certain circumstances like the one pictured above!
Denim Jacket, Dark Jeans, and White Sneakers
Don’t be afraid to go casual; style a large weekender tote with a denim jacket and jeans for a trendy and stylish look. For some added flare, add some bolder accessories. Silver jewelry and a patterned wallet would look lovely with this outfit.
Long Sleeve Button Up and Black Skirt
Consider pairing a colorful button-up long-sleeved shirt with a black skirt to take your style to the next level. The black weekender bag is a perfectly subtle way to add even more style to your ensemble. This classic look works well with other outfit color combinations or a more unique overnight tote color. It’s subdued, but still has an impact.
Pink Sweater, Blue Jeans, and Brown Loafers
Add to your casual look by incorporating a canvas weekender bag. You should try to match your accessories the best you can in terms of color and texture since this will bring the outfit together.
