Our vegan belts are not only fashionable and cruelty-free, but they are also durable, quality pieces made to meet your needs whether you need a dress belt or casual belt. We use a microfiber-based vegan leather which is significantly more supple and much more durable than the PU material used by most brands. What To Look For In A Belt
1) Materials
Always ask what materials are used. We've written about this through the site. Say no to PU. Our microfiber based vegan leather is the best in look, feel, durability and more! Our buckles are now brass or stainless steel. We don't use zinc alloy which is lesser in quality and durability.
2) Sizing
We don't simplify sizing with offering minimal sizes like small, medium, and large. We offer the broadest range of sizes from 28 all the way up to 60. We want each person wearing our belts to feel like they're getting a custom fit.
3) Comfort
While we make our belts very durable, we don't use industrial materials that don't have a little give. If we use materials that stiff, your body has to give. We'd love our belts to be unbreakable, but not at the expense of your body!
4) Style
While some use industrial materials, we're not ok with that. We want our materials to look beautiful and so we look at the color, grain, and feel. We also have an eye on which buckles are new in the market.
5) Company
We've been to over 50 and maybe closer to 100 vegan festivals, animal rights conferences, and other events. We've donated cash and thousands of dollars worth of products to vegan non-profits. We're connected to the cause you believe in.
Our Belt Making Philosophy and Why Belts Lead to Starting Doshi:
Belts, like shoes, should conform to your body so that your body isn't forced to conform to the product. In our travels to factories, the artisans and sample masters who we spoke to related the importance of using materials that both last but which conform. Over the course of a day, your waistline will grow and shrink according to what you eat. Your belt should work with you.
We specialize in traditional pin and hole buckle belts but also make ratchet belts for the modern gentleman. Whether you're looking for a professional belt for work or a casual belt to wear on jeans, we have you covered. We're excited that we now offer a kraft paper option and will be offering more eco-alternatives in 2025. Our newest belts now come in a biodegradable corn starch bag and make for one of the best gifts for vegans!
Back in the early 2000s, when I started working for the City of Los Angeles, I started to look for vegan dress belts. I bought vegan belts online from a number of vegan retailers including some of those in existence today. All of those faux leather belts cracked and peeled. The idea of creating a better men’s vegan belt started from here because I wanted vegans and those who wanted to live an animal-friendly, cruelty-free lifestyle to have options that were on par or better than their leather counterparts.
The first part of the journey was finding the right material. We found that microfiber vegan leather is much, much more durable than the PU leather that is still used by most vegan brands. As a vegan brand, we're taking on the responsibility to show the world that ethical fashion can result in durable vegan belts and other vegan accessories. It's just a matter of sourcing and paying more for better materials. It brings me personal satisfaction that Doshi offers products using better non-leather materials at prices on par with other designer vegan brands.
We're going to continuously push the envelope to bring you better vegan and eco-friendly belts. Our goal is to not only become one of the leading vegan brands but also become one of the leading sustainable accessory brands and sustainable clothing brands.
